Mission & Pastoral Committee

This is a statutory committee (established by the Dioceses, Pastoral and Mission Measure 2007), responsible for advising the Bishop on all matters relating to pastoral reorganisation:

  • making or assisting in making better provision for the cure of souls in the diocese
  • having particular regard to:Mission, especially arrangements for pastoral supervision and care, and effective mission in the parishes of the diocese
  • deployment, including the development and implementation of a deployment policy in liaison with the Bishop's Staff and deanery pastoral committees, and recommending, or not, suspensions of patrons’ rights of presentation
  • styles and structures of ministry, including ecumenical matters, team and group ministries, local ministry teams
  • working closely, although informally, with deanery pastoral committees.

The DMPC has one sub-committee – the Closed Churches Uses Committee.
