The following Trust also welcomes grant applications and two (half) of the Trustees administering this fund are from within our St Albans Diocese community:

FRIENDS OF OSBORNE HOUSE – ‘offering financial assistance to those suffering hardship’.

A little background: Osborne House first opened its doors in 1979 providing overnight refuge for those without shelter. Friends of Osborne House was formed to raise money to cover costs of running the house. The house ran for around 20 years supported by money from the Deanery of Cheshunt and the ‘Friends’ trust, before having to be passed on to another charity.

The Trustees now welcome individual grant applications, relying on clergy to make cases of hardship known to them. In response to referrals, help has been given in a variety of ways, for example:

- Replacement cooker

- New pair of shoes

- Clothes for an interview

- Bicycle to attend college

- Funeral costs

- Household linen

- Kitchen equipment

- Overnight temporary accommodation

- Educational courses
