Bishop Alan Joins School Story Circle
The Bishop of St Albans, The Rt Revd Alan Smith, visited St Lawrence’s Primary School in Ardeley, last Tuesday during a visit to Buntingford, Royston and the surrounding area. He joined the Key Stage 2 children’s story circle to hear how they had made up a story with storyteller Danya Miller, using only their imaginations and a few objects they provided.Danya is part of a Creative Partnership project designed to bring creativity into classrooms.
Bishop Alan asked the children to explain how they had used the objects to tell the story they had just created. He and the children enjoyed the opportunity and there was much laughter.
The children said:
"We liked it that the Bishop got down on the floor with us and shared in our story.”
“He was very nice and it was interesting to see what Bishops wear and that they enjoy doing the things that we like doing."
Bishop Alan was shown round the school by Headteacher Mrs Jenny Dingley and Mrs Wendy Waygood who assists with collective worship at the school every two or three weeks.
St Lawrence’s is one of the Diocese of St Albans 133 schools in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
