Mission & Ministry Development Reviews
Mission and Ministry Development Review (MDR) is designed to replace the present St Albans Diocese Ministry Review Scheme and to meet the ministerial review guidelines which are part of Common Tenure. Mission and Ministry Development Review comes under the Bishop’s oversight and the administrative function is delegated to the Ministry Development Officer. It is expected that all clergy will participate in this new scheme.
The Booklet explains the scheme in detail and you can download a copy here:
The aim of ministerial reviews is that clergy should become more effective ministers in the service of Jesus Christ through self-reflection and constructive feedback from a consultant and from their peers. This will be achieved through the following framework:
1. A biennial review of their ministry with a trained consultant, consisting of an assisted self-assessment, feedback from peers, and an opportunity to address issues of personal and professional training, support and development.
2. A biennial pastoral visit by a Bishop or Archdeacon for those in stipendary ministry. They will be aware of the previous year’s MDR summary and they will help the clergy to look at their ministry in relation to the mission and ministry strategy of the Diocese, Living God’s Love. An option may include meeting with the PCC.
Clergy will be invited to take part in the review scheme and invitations will sent out by the MDR Secretary, Amy Angus. If you were not invited in 2011, you should recieve an invitation durign 2012.
Once you have been invited, there will be various forms to complete. Amy will send these out at the time, but we have also put them on the website for your interest and convenience. We will not be putting a list of the Review convenors on the website, but you can ask Amy to send you a PDF if you would like to see it.
If you have any queries about the Scheme, do get in touch with Amy.
