Six year high for ordination candidates

The Diocese currently has 37 candidates in training for ordination, which is the highest number since 2000. Numbers are yet to reach the levels of the 1990s when there were well over 40 candidates but the signs are encouraging with 6 more candidates this year than last.

There are also increasing numbers of people who are committing themselves to some form of lay ministry often encouraged by the training provided through the Local Ministry Team and the Reader training.

Vocations Officers

The recently appointed vocations officers are providing across the Diocese advice, encouragement and support to those who wish to pursue their vocation. The group consists of one lay and one ordained vocations officer for each archdeaconry. If you would like to consider your vocation on an informal basis why not contact one of the officers in your area?

NSM officers appointed

The Bishop of St Albans has appointed three non-stipendiary minister (NSM) officers to help support the many NSMs working in the diocese. They will work with the Ministry Development Team and the Bishop to provide professional and pastoral oversight of NSMs and help to shape the development of ministry within the diocese. Together with the vocations officers they will work to encourage non-stipendiary ministry.
