Archdeacon of Bedford

The Ven Paul Hughes became Archdeacon of Bedford in September 2003.

Paul Hughes was formerly Vicar of Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead since 1993, having previously been Team Vicar in Dunstable from 1986, and Curate in Chipping Barnet with Arkley from his ordination in 1982 to 1986.

Archdeacon of St Albans

The Revd Jonathan Smith is Archdeacon-elect of St Albans. His appointment was announced on 17th March 2008.

Jonathan Smith is at present Vicar of St John's, Harpenden.

Mr Smith has twenty-eight years experience of ordained ministry including a period as Chaplain of City University in London. He has worked in the Diocese of St Albans for the past twenty years in both rural Bedfordshire and suburban Hertfordshire and also served as Chaplain to Bedfordshire Police, as a Rural Dean and as Chairman of the Diocesan Board of Patronage.

Archdeacon of Hertford

Trevor Jones was collated as the first Archdeacon of Hertford in September 1997.

Ordained priest in 1976, Trevor Jones has served in a variety of posts in the dioceses of Gloucester and Hereford. He takes a particular interest in educational issues and ecumenical relations.

He is responsible for oversight of the Board for Christian Development, which takes in the areas of clergy training, education, and youth & children's work.
