Church Maintenance

Major restoration and improvement projects are important but routine checks and maintenance with small ‘stich in time’ repairs are equally vital. They have proved excellent value for money, preventing much greater damage and costs in the future. With funds and plans hit by Covid-19 such maintenance is even more critical.
Regular inspections and maintenance typically focus on slipped roof tiles and faulty flashings plus making sure that water runs freely through the gutters, downpipes and channels. But they go further than that.
Our Church Maintenance Advice Note covers:
- Why regular maintenance and inspections are so important
- Maintenance plans
- Who does what maintenance?
- Maintenance by parish volunteers
- Maintenance by contractors
- Grants and maintenance
- Further resources
The Advice Note gives links to presentations from our 2018 workshops which introduced maintenance and set out the roles of parish volunteers and contractors. It also links to key advice and resources.
