Archdeacons’ Visitations 2023

We are pleased to say that the timetable for Annual Parish Meetings and APCMs is in place with 2023 meetings to be held between 1 January and 31 May. Full information can be found on our Parish Support pages. May we remind you please to return to your Archdeacon’s office your Certificate of Election for Churchwardens within 7 days of your annual meetings.

All Churchwardens need to admitted at an Archdeacon’s Visitation Service every year in order to be authorised to carry out their role, and details of those will be provided shortly.

The Archdeacons thank you for all that you are doing to support the parishes and benefices in your community.

This year, 2023, Churchwardens will be admitted by the Archdeacon at a Visitation Service and there is no provision for admission by clergy as there was at the height of the covid pandemic. There will be a choice of dates for which you need to register , and which we ask churchwardens to make every attempt to attend.

Archdeaconry of Bedford

These are the documents that will help you when you hold your Annual Meeting of Parishioners (AMP) to elect Churchwardens. The AMP is usually held at the same time as the APCM guidance and papers for which can be found here.

Please ensure that completed churchwarden election certificates are returned within 7 days of the annual meeting to archdbedpa@stalbans.anglican.org .
