Cathedral Vacancies

St Albans Cathedral Safeguarding Officer

The Dean & Chapter seek to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to support the development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate safeguarding policy and procedures in line with Church of England requirements and good practice.

The Safeguarding Officer will lead and coordinate the Cathedral’s response to any safeguarding concerns that are raised or identified.

This is a part time role for 15 hours a week. Relevant professional qualification and experience are essential.

Youth Chaplain

The Dean & Chapter seek to appoint a priest to the clergy team of this busy parish church Cathedral, to lead the Cathedral’s ministry among children and young people.

This is an excellent role for someone with an enthusiastic and creative vision for the place of children and young people in the life of the Church, working with one of the largest and most active Cathedral congregations in the country.

This minor canon position is supervised by the Sub Dean, and is an important role in shaping the mission and ministry of the Cathedral. The Chaplain has a unique opportunity to exercise a full priestly ministry, whilst leading the Cathedral’s work with children and young people, encouraging and enabling them to find their place in the Cathedral Community.

The position has incumbent status and is often held by a priest following their title post.

Abbot’s Kitchen Café Assistant 

Abbot’s Kitchen Café, located in the Cathedral’s Welcome Centre, are looking for café assistants to join their friendly team. With your love of interacting with people, positive attitude and offering fantastic customer service, you’ll look after every customer that visits St Albans Cathedral.

Flexible working hours are available (up to 20 hours a week).

Experience in the customer service environment is desirable, but full training will be given.

Alban Intern

A year spent as an Alban Intern gives you the opportunity to be immersed in the life, mission and ministry of St Albans Cathedral – Britain’s oldest site of continuous Christian worship over 1700 years. Supported and mentored by the clergy team, Alban Interns become involved in the diverse aspects of our life together developing skills, and gaining experiences, across a wide range of ministries.  Regular supervision will be provided with the Sub Dean or one of the Minor Canons.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to St Albans for interview, with a chance to meet key members of the cathedral staff and congregation, and to see a variety of activities.
