Cathedral Vacancies

Full Time Virger

The Cathedral is seeking to recruit a full time Virger. The Virger team is an integral part of the Cathedrals’ front of house team, interacting on a daily basis with the congregation, clergy, volunteers, visitors, venue hire organisers, external contractors and other members of the general public.

The Virger team are crucial to the fulfilment of the Cathedral’s mission and ministry, ensuring the smooth running of worshipping life at the Cathedral. Virgers are responsible for ensuring the Cathedral looks its best at all times and that it provides a safe and welcoming environment for all those who use it. Virgers are responsible for the preparation of services, leading processions, operating the live-streaming equipment on Sunday mornings and at other special services, carrying out regular cleaning, working the internal PA system during services, setting up staging for events and on occasion being the first responder for unplanned activity such as alarms activation.

This is a full time role of 35 hours a week worked over 5 days on an agreed weekly rota including weekends..

Children, Youth and Schools Leader – St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Cranfield

An exciting opportunity to shape our vision for children and youth ministry as we enter a new phase.

This is a full time post (38 hours) to include Sunday, and one full rest day a week. The contract is for three years (with a view to make it permanent dependent upon funding). Salary £23,000 – £30,000 depending on experience. Applications are encouraged from both experienced and inexperienced candidates with training funds available.

Worship & Media Team Leader – Sunnyside Church, Berkhamsted

We are seeking someone to lead our existing worship team, raise up new leaders and help us grow as worshiping people.

Part time.  Salary £11,500 – £14,000.

Project Manager: Hymnpact! ® – Royal School of Church Music

Are you passionate about the power of singing to bring people together?

Hymnpact! is an exciting new project bringing schools and churches together, offering children a pathway into spiritual development and the worshipping community which can be accessed and nurtured through singing.

As Project Manager you will

  • lead the delivery of a project that enables parishes and schools to work more closely together
  • work with local parishes and schools as well as Diocesan and Board of Education staff
  • support and enable effective partnerships between church and school at diocesan and local level

You will be

  • a skilled Project Manager with experience of stakeholder/ partnership management
  • skilled in the use of timely and effective reporting
  • practised in embedding feedback and learning

This full-time post is for a fixed term of 2.5 years

Salary:  £30,000 – £32,000

Location: Working from home and/or Salisbury (RSCM Office) with travel to other locations around England (initially particularly within the diocese of St. Albans).

Hours: 9am to 5pm, however, flexibility will be desirable for this role and occasional evening work may be required.  4 days a week may be considered for the appropriate candidate.
