Gender, power and authority – Developing the practical skills of personal presence and responding well to challenge
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in the themes of gender, power and authority, and who wants to develop insight and practical skills to assist with managing challenging situations of this type. The workshop is designed to be interactive and so numbers will be restricted to allow for participation both in the large group and in breakouts.
Topics covered will include:
- Understanding and exploring micro-aggressions
- Responding well to challenge
- Developing assertiveness
- Using Transactional analysis to analyse situations and develop transformational strategies
- Gender and communication
- Giving effective feedback
The facilitator, Karin Horowitz, has worked with many people in ministry over a number of years, providing individual coaching, facilitating group supervision and action learning, and running leadership development sessions. This workshop draws on her experience of the challenges encountered in ministry related to the workshop themes and also introduces participants to some wider models and skills they can use in a range of settings.
