Tackling Church Repairs – A Parish Workshop (DAC)

25th March @ 9:40 am - 4:50 pm

Tackling Church Repairs – meeting the challenge is a workshop for parishes on organising and funding church repairs. The workshop will be helpful to everyone involved in planning and managing repair projects, applying for grants and other fundraising. It will be particularly useful for those who face significant repairs to their historic church following a quinquennial inspection report, longstanding failings or the discovery of new problems. The workshop will combine presentations with question and answer sessions.

 Workshop topics

  • Understanding the need for repairs and rising to the challenge
  • Working with your professional adviser
  • Planning and managing your project
  • A repairs and funding case study – learning the lessons
  • Making a successful case for funding
  • Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grants and how to get them
  • Other grants and fundraising and support from the diocese

 Workshop speakers

A church architect and church surveyor, parish members, a Historic England heritage at risk surveyor, the Heritage Lottery Fund regional development manager, national procurement and funding officers from the Church of England, and officers from the diocese.
