Gender-based violence (GBV)
16 Days of Activism
Following on from the success of last year’s participation, Mothers’ Union along with other organisations such as Amnesty International is taking part in 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence in 2014. The 16 Days run from 25th November, International Day Against Violence Against Women, to 10th December, International Human Rights Day. The international theme for this year’s 16 Days is ‘From peace in the home to peace in the world: Let’s challenge militarism and end violence against women’!
During the 16 Days Members of the Mother’s Union will be praying, raising awareness locally, nationally and globally, and calling on our political representatives to take action. You too can take action. Mothers’ Union has produced an Activism Pack to help you get involved, whether as an individual or as a group. Resources for activities include:
- An outline for a service
- A guide to holding a vigil
- Messages to use in your social media activities
- Guidelines for writing to your political representative
- A template press release and poster for highlighting your activities
