Our Looking
What progress have you made with the Goals from your previous MAP, and what do you want to celebrate?
- THIS IS OUR FIRST MAP! Putting it together has been a journey of discovery in itself.
- A growing Carers' and Toddlers' Group called Noah's Ark.
- A meeting of minds within the congregation that we need to step out in faith to engage with the community of Barton that much more.
What Goals did you set where you saw less progress than you would have liked?

Things seen about our local community
- The way different generations communicate is changing.
- Growing poverty and isolation.
- The need for faith and a way to express it is very much alive.
How have you begun to engage with these concerns / needs / issues?
- Setting up a parish face-book page and a new website.
- Support for a local food-bank.
- Setting up a Parish Prayer garden and establishing Messy Church.
Our Discerning
Vision (for five years' time)
Our vision is to know Christ's love and to share it with the local community.
Current SituationFrom our Parish Statistics for Mission, we see that we are / have...
Our congregation is ageing whilst at the same time there is a need to integrate our growing Carers and Toddlers Group into the life of the church.
Priorities (for the next five years)
- To engage with Living God's love and Reaching New People so that we are better able to build his Kingdom in Barton through prayer and greater participation.
- To remember it is Jesus we are serving in all that we do.
- To improve our communication inside church and with the wider community.
Goals (for the next year)
- To explore how we can reach new people in Barton with the help of the Diocese and develop a training plan in order to do so by May 2019.
- To improve community engagement by involving people from outside church in running the church fete by June 2019.
- To engage with people of all ages and bring the generations together in worship by starting a Messy Church by October 2019.
- To engage with church members in finding stories about church life at St. Nicholas by October 2019.
- To continue to develop both the church garden as a space for recreation and reflection and the content of the Parish Magazine.
