Our Looking
Things seen about our local community
- The nearby Town Centre is in need of redevelopment.
- There is much coming and going through the churchyard.
- Many people have lived in Hatfield all their lives.
Three things we have seen about our church
- A cross-sectin of society come to our services.
- Many people visit the church, but do not come to services.
- The church facilities are very limited.
Our Discerning
Vision (for five years' time)
St Luke's offers a space for quiet prayer in people's own time and in their own way. It has an intimate, friendly atmosphere for weddings, baptisms and funerals.
Priorities (for the next five years)
- To offer a welcome to all.
- To develop work with schools and young people.
- To maintain the fabric of the building.
Goals (for the next year)
- To keep the church open at weekends.
- To offer both Eucharistic and informal worship.
- To build links with those who do not regularly attend services through special events such as Harvest Scarecrow festival, 'Following the Star' and the tour of the war graves.
- To resurface the car park by the end of 2014.
- To improve the appearance of the outside of the church, making it more appealing to the local community as a place to visit. To be done by end of 2014.
