Our Looking

What progress have you made with the Goals from your previous MAP, and what do you want to celebrate?

  • Progress has been made on gaining the faculty for our Room for All towards providing modern facilities for our group.
  • The children's handbell group have performed at school services in the church and have done an online campaign for the Room for All

Things seen about our local community

  • Good community spirit and strong village identity
  • Positive and progressive outlook
  • Good facilities and amenities producing a desirable place to live, although we have identified a local need to address the question of loneliness amongst the elderly and young mothers in the village.

How have you begun to engage with these concerns / needs / issues?

  • We have actively sought to engage the elderly and young mothers through the work of volunteers in the 60+ and Mums and Tots groups. Although we have been highly successful in this regard, we believe more could be done to improve the provision of activities for these sections of our community. We are hampered by the lack of space and basic facilities in St Katharine's but remain committed to finding ways to overcome these difficulties.

Our Discerning

Vision (for five years' time)

The community has continued to grow with Christ at its centre

Current Situation

From our Parish Statistics for Mission, we see that we are / have...

A growing and committed congregation of all ages with a strong musical tradition and participation.

Priorities (for the next five years)

  • To put down the foundation for our Room for All and complete the building work.
  • To continue to communicate with the community in an effective way
  • Increase opportunities for deepening our faith

Goals (for the next year)

  • Increase discipleship by running at least one discipleship course, as well as Advent and Lent groups, in the year i.e the Bible Course or Alpha
  • Encourage lay leadership by running an intercessions course in the Benefice, leading to lay lead intercessions
  • Communicate with the community: create newcomers cards with St Katharine’s service and group information to go to new inhabitants, especially with the anticipated new house building
  • To continue to encourage Junior Choir attendance
  • Begin developing a pastoral care team and possible prayer chain
