Our Looking
Things seen about our local community
- Committed congregation
- A relatively affluent corner of Hertfordshire
- Over 50% of the parishioners attend some kind of religious service
Three things we have seen about our church
- A gem of 15th Century church building
- More facilities required to keep up with modern day expectations
- A supportive community where 90% of parishioners are prepared to support and do not wish the church to become redundant
Our Discerning
Vision (for five years' time)
A vibrant community at which the church is the heart Widen our appeal to all faiths Known to be a church that holds traditional BCP anmd informal all age services Warm, welcoming and well used
Priorities (for the next five years)
- Deepen our faith and commitment by holding further bible study groups - to then enable more of the congregation to share God's word and continue the work with Living God's Love initiative.
- Find ways to reach out to the surrounding communities outside the church.
- Encourage more uses and more people to come to St Faith's more regulalry by improving our facilities
Goals (for the next year)
- Lower the average age of teh congregation (currently approx 75)
- Reach out to different groups that are not represented in the church at present. Hold one ecumenical service a year
- Improve the church comfort by installing a water supply (by 2013), toilet and kitchen facilities (by 2014) and runners in pews (2015)
- Increase the knowledge of the history of the church with its place in our community. Complete the Church Recorders record compiled by NADFAS by 2016
- Encourage further co-operation between Kelshall and Therfield by holding at least three joint fund raising events per year and at least five benefice services per year
