Our Looking

What progress have you made with the Goals from your previous MAP, and what do you want to celebrate?

  • Successful Open Church initiatives: Café Church, Pew Top Sales, Open Church Sunday.
  • Christmas Tree Festival established as an Annual Event; Looking forward to the 3rd year!
  • Service Pattern Review – New Routine (Earlier Service) is fruitful and bringing some growth.

What Goals did you set where you saw less progress than you would have liked?

  • Website Progress – Significant time was set aside for PCC Policy, Procedures and Statements.
  • Building ‘Cross-Benefice Relationships’ – More could be done.

Things seen about our local community

  • Sometimes there is a lack of community feel and cohesion due to the natural geographical division of the village. It is generally divided in to two main halves, being Church End and South End.
  • A ‘Friends of St. Peter’s, Milton Bryan’ Charity exists. It could have a closer relationship with the Church.
  • Our Parish sits among many, in what is generally known as an affluent area, though there are many at the other end of the scale struggling to make ends meet. For those living in the area, they are often at distance from family and work. This often means there is no time for church or other community involvement.

How have you begun to engage with these concerns / needs / issues?

  • We have run some very successful community events over the last two years, ‘Café Church’, ‘Open Church’, ‘Pew Top Sales’, ‘Christmas Tree Festival’ which draws together individuals and groups from across the community and beyond.
  • Linking, building relationships, inviting to events. Meeting with the Chairman, occasionally and sharing the Church’s Vision for the future.
  • Yes, but more could be done. Maybe ‘profile’ the parish. Try a questionnaire. Seek out what people like and explore other days and times of the week for events/services.

Our Discerning

Vision (for five years' time)

Our Values: • Holding closely to the timeless values of the Bible. • Rooted in Prayer, together. • Seeking the face of Jesus, inviting the Holy Spirit to bring alive the scriptures. • Embracing God through Worship. • An accessible, loving and welcoming Church. • Being ‘the Church’ at the heart of our communities and work. The Vision of St Peter’s, Milton Bryan is to:- • ‘Know’… the Lord in and through worship and the scriptures. • ‘Grow’… as His disciples in fellowship • ‘Go’… and make Him known in our communities
