Our Looking

What progress have you made with the Goals from your previous MAP, and what do you want to celebrate?

  • The start of a second homegroup for working age people
  • Informal, relevant and child-friendly services which have an outreach dimension
  • A strong culture of welcoming and acceptance

What Goals did you set where you saw less progress than you would have liked?

  • Informal activities in the village hall for young people
  • Designated welcomers not set up

Things seen about our local community

  • More cohesion in the community required, less intolerance of differing views
  • An unbalanced demographic - weighting towards the retired
  • Competing activities can conflict with church commitment and involvement

How have you begun to engage with these concerns / needs / issues?

  • An effective pastoral team which responds to needs in the community
  • Outreach through all-age services
  • Involvement of regular church members in day-to-day village activites. For example, Village Walk

Our Discerning

Vision (for five years' time)

At St Peter's Church, Pavenham, our vision is to be a flourishing, Christ-centred community enabling people of all ages and backgrounds to discover God, to grow in their relationship with him and to respond to his transforming love through sharing faith and serving others.

Current Situation

From our Parish Statistics for Mission, we see that we are / have...

We have a higher proportion of retired people within the community and attending church services. Numbers for all-age services have remained stable.

Priorities (for the next five years)

  • To provide opportunities for people to grow in faith through home groups
  • To continue to develop informal and relevant all-age services
  • To develop pastoral care in its many forms within the church and community

Goals (for the next year)

  • To create a children's area in the church by summer 2019
  • Increase number of PPC by 2 during 2019
  • To replace the overhead heaters in the chancel and south transept by autumn 2019
