Our Looking

What progress have you made with the Goals from your previous MAP, and what do you want to celebrate?

  • Completed Disabled Access
  • Maintained a sound financial position

What Goals did you set where you saw less progress than you would have liked?

  • Monthly Sunday school, various, new MAP to tackle issue

Things seen about our local community

  • The parish is geographically fragmented.
  • The social hubs of the parish are the schools, the Parish Hall, the Village stores, the pubs and restaurants.
  • Economic activity within the parish is on a small scale. Vast majority of parisioners of working age work some distance away.

Our Discerning

Vision (for five years' time)

Our vision is to continue to be a growing church with its heart in the community; not only where all ages feel that they are welcomed, but also a church community with faith-driven actions.

Current Situation

From our Parish Statistics for Mission, we see that we are / have...

Reasonably static congregation numbers, though if anything the congregation ages and younger members are few

Priorities (for the next five years)

  • To nurture new and established members of the church through courses, welcome information packs and follow-up contact for wedding and baptismal families
  • To improve our financial position through clear information on Gift Aid and direct debit schemes
  • To build on and nurture links with the local school To improve facilities in the church for regular and occasional use by the addition of a sink and kitchen area, and the provision of easier access to the outside toilet To encourage church members into a deeper relationship with God through prayer

Goals (for the next year)

  • To improve facilities in the church for regular and occasional use by the addition of a sink and kitchen area, and the provision of easier access to the outside toilet To encourage church members into a deeper relationship with God through prayer
  • To have a dedicated system for following up contact with wedding couples and baptismal families
  • To develop a community care team to visit and support those unable to attend church
  • To establish a child-centred All Age service on the 1st Sunday of each month and to to have a half-termly Messy Church
  • To develop a well-trained, welcoming team for church services who will also instigate further contact To develop ways where we as a church can be more outward looking, focussing on the needs of our own local community but also on the wider world
