What progress have you made with the Goals from your previous MAP, and what do you want to celebrate?

• Access for all project completed – accessible toilet, entrance, step free access inside
• New website produced and regularly updated, pastoral team set up and effective
• Love Stevenage - gardening and DIY for the community and free afternoon tea

What Goals did you set where you saw less progress than you would have liked?

• Have not appointed a youth/children’s worker, partly due to lack of vicar and partly because it was difficult to determine what our requirements were

Things seen about our local community

• There is a great brokenness in our parish - powerlessness & low self worth resulting in broken relationships, debt, addiction.
• Youth needs are not well met in the parish - many hang out in the street as a preference to being at home.
• There is a spiritual darkness in the parish, a spiritualist centre opposite the church. Many local people directly influenced.

How have you begun to engage with these concerns / needs / issues?

• Engage with the community through tea & co (weekly drop in for cake/chat/games/knit)
• New relationship with the local Co-op, the PCO, maintained relationship with local councilor
• Messy Church and developing Messy youth, illuminate club for Y3-Y6, Stepping Stones toddler group

Vision (for five years' time)

a church that welcomes people of all ages and serves the community, a “furnace” where people of all ages are transformed by Jesus’ presence, where miracles happen and people are sent out by the Holy Spirit on fire for God

Current Situation

From our Parish Statistics for Mission, we see that we are / have...

Over half the church comes from the parish, there’s a wide range of social class and different ethnicities. Sunday attendance is around 68 adults and 18 children. Messy Church is around 35 children and 40 adults

Priorities (for the next five years)

• Reach new people by specifically concentrating on young people
• To be able to use the building more flexibly for outreach by buying new chairs
• To make the front entrance accessible, visible and welcoming

Goals (for the next year)

• Establish job description for part time youth worker, obtain funding, advertise position and appoint part time youth worker. Start May 2018, employed by Sept 2019
• Obtain chair samples, survey the church, choose a chair, and purchase chairs. By April 2019
• Establish the requirement by consulting with church members. Appoint architect to draw up plans, agree final plan, fund raise, appoint builders, do building work. Start Jan 2019, end 2021
