Our Looking

Things seen about our local community

  • Young families are now replacing the older population.
  • One Village Gastro Pub, one Montessori School, one Care Home, 2 Village Greens, no shop.
  • All Saints is a Grade 1 listed building and the only church in the parish.

Three things we have seen about our church

  • All Saints congregation is small and ageing, but trying hard.
  • All Saints has the assets of move-able seating for events plus the extra use of the adjacent Church House building facilities of a hall, kitchen and toilets.
  • All Saints finances are healthy due to fundraising by the congregation and 'Friends of Tilsworth Church'. This consists of various organised events throughout the year and also the annual fete. In addition and importantly, there are also Benefactors who support us financially as well.

Our Discerning

Vision (for five years' time)

1. All Saints Tilsworth has brought the young families to church and grown the congregation. 2. Recognised the newcomers' talents and used them to inspire others. 3. Made a difference by adapting and updating services.

Priorities (for the next five years)

  • Make Tilsworth Church an attractive alternative to other Sunday morning activities.
  • Create an After School Club in Church House once a month for children and families, ensuring the appropriate safeguards are in place for those leading the activities.
  • Continue to grow the Coffee Morning once a month for villagers in Church House and also continue to put on special services / events, eg. Harvest, Remembrance, Nativity, Pet Service, Christmas Tree Festival, following discussions with the new incumbent regarding all of this.

Goals (for the next year)

  • Go out and reclaim old contacts.
  • Identify and visit the sick / newcomers.
  • Gain new recruits, thereby reducing our workload.
  • Invite local associations to both events and services.
  • Retain one Holy Communion Service per month, at least.
