Talk and Teach
The UK owns one-third of all the credit card debt in Europe
The average household debt in the UK is £7,975 (excluding mortgages)
We have become a society addicted to debt, but many often never talk about it, least of all at church.
For some some ideas of Bible studies on debt, here are some good worship resources:
Bible Teaching – ‘Going Deeper Into Debt’ – from The Children’s Society, explores the impact of problem debt on families.
Respond – Talk together as a congregation about how you can respond to finance and debt issues in your community.
Personal Budgeting – ‘The CAP Money Course’ – from Christians Against Poverty (CAP), a great tool to manage personal finances and help guard against debt, so release people to use money, not be controlled by it.
We are working on resources for schools and colleges to teach young people about how to manage money and finance for their future.
Many people in our congregations will be struggling to manage their money, and making decisions which could make it worse, some fall into serious problems. Others may work excessive hours to get out of debt, causing stress friction in relationships and even family breakdown.
