Grovehill’s new priest, the Revd Austin Janes, was installed as Team Vicar of the Church of the Resurrection on Sunday 16th March.
One of his first acts was to let off a clutch of balloons representing different activities of the church to see which travelled furthest. To his delight, given his previous role as Minor Canon for Young People at St Albans Cathedral, it was the UNO youth group’s balloon that took an early lead.
?Among those present at the installation were Cllr Alan Lawson, Deputy Mayor of Dacorum and Mike Penning MP, pictured with the Bishop of Hertford who preached and licensed Mr Janes, and many supporters from the local community, the Revd Stephen Copson, Regional Minister of the Central Baptist Association representing Churches Together in Hemel Hempstead and other clergy in the Hemel Hempstead team.
?In his sermon, Bishop Paul referred to the importance of a priest being visible in his community as a focus for people to approach to whom they could express their best desires. Bishop Paul remarked that as a dog owner, he had an excuse to be out and about.
