Parish of Luton, All Saints with St Peter
« Mission Action Plan »
Our allotments ( 15 raised beds) continue to be well used by local ( Muslim) community.
For the second year we have organised and run a very successful Windrush celebration event – this is a further reminder of the place of All Saints for the Caribbean community in the town.
Our annual PeaceLight service drew in more involvement from other faiths in 2018 ( Muslim, Hindu, Sikh).
We now host a Red Cross drop in for refugees and other vulnerable service Red Cross users and have helped them begin sewing classes, and supported them with fresh food and clothing.
Godly Play with elements of Messy Church ran successfully at St Peters from 9/18 -5/20.
We now have a pastoral visitors group.
At All Saints we have installed a thermostat to maintain minimum temperature during the winter.
In 2018 we paid 100% of our parish share which was a major achievement.
Attendance at Godly Play dwindled and we have paused this for the summer.
We ran a study group on christian approaches to LGBT but didn’t manage to run any generic nurture activity for adults.
Our vision is to be an inclusive welcoming christian presence in a majority S Asian / Muslim community. Faithful in our christian discipleship, eager to work alongside fellow Christians and those of other faiths, we seek to make Christ known in word and deed.
To be a genuinely Inclusive church. To offer an open Welcome as our capacity and resources permit.
To work in partnership with others wherever possible.
Open our churches and surrounding areas so that the wider ( mainly Muslim and other faiths) community recognise and value our presence and purpose.
All Saints will be open at a minimum from 10.30-12.00 every Thursday to offer a welcome and basic refreshments.
Promote our existing Thursday morning “Places of Welcome” by printing and placing cards in shop windows and elsewhere.
Offer appropriate weekday activities for church and community members in order to promote fellowship and in response to questionnaires completed by the congregation in June 2019.
Deliver a Tuesday morning activity based session in the hall at All Saints using tuition from Active Luton.
Deliver creative or craft based sessions for interested members of the church or wider community in a weekday daytime slot in the hall at All Saints.
Devise and deliver nurture sessions for baptism families and their children – based at St Peters. The aim will be to support parents as their child’s first Christian educators and help them in their own faith journey.
Deliver monthly (at a minimum) Sunday afternoon groups from September 2019 onwards at St Peters for Baptism families and others, using elements of Godly Play and Messy Church.
Establish an effective communication channel ( whats Ap?) for parents so they can be reminded of sessions.
