Progress
The last MAP was adopted in 2012.
Since the last MAP the service pattern has changed; there is a wider variety of services
throughout the month and at special events such as Harvest, Mothering Sunday etc.
Given the time that has lapsed since the last MAP, it is envisaged that this will serve
as a new MAP.
We currently do not have a website or any regular internet presence. One of our priorities last time was to improve our publicity/presence in the village – this is something we are aware of and working to improve in this current MAP.
We are aware that we are an ‘aging’ church, and whilst people of all ages appreciate us in the village, we are not increasing our congregation. We have an excellent relationship with our church school and seek to utilise this relationship as we seek to go deeper into God and make new disciples.
Vision
To be an outward looking church bringing the love of God to the people of Woolmer Green
through our worship and Christian presence.
Values
We are a committed congregation which seeks to be welcoming to people of all ages through our worship and outreach in the village.
We engage with the local community at different events through the year and are appreciated by the community. We seek to improve our presence and build on these relationships to engage more fully with the wider community.
1st Priority
To improve our publicity and image.
To have our own website and utilise social media to advertise events at the church to show that the church is relevant.
To have a new notice board which we are able to update regularly and which reflects a church
fit for the 21st century.
To ‘tidy up’ and begin a conversation to modernise the fabric of the church to reflect the love
of God and the hospitality of Christ.
2nd Priority
To utilise our excellent relationship with our church school to bridge the gap between worship in the school and worship in the church.
In partnership with the Headteacher, to introduce a first communion/confirmation class in the school. (With the school currently being non-Eucharistic and the church being a Eucharistic community there is a divide in our worship.)
To engage with the school choir and involve them in special services throughout the year.
