Progress

What progress are you celebrating since your previous MAP?

Establishment of weekly, informal, family-friendly, contemporary worship (Tea Time Church), with a gradually increasing congregation.
Re-vitalised traditional choir for weekly sung eucharist and regular sung evensong.
Variety of service styles
Wide range of one-off courses
Summer hampers for families in need, leading onto a summer holidays club in 2019
Occasional lunches for those living alone
Deciding not to pursue an opportunity for a joint venture development of a meeting and activities facility in a disused URC church property after five years of careful and prayerful exploration and consideration; switching focus to re-ordering of St Helen’s church to support its mission in the village.

How far did you meet your previous priorities?
(1 star = Not at all → 10 stars = Done)

7 stars

Where has there been less progress than hoped for?

Finding it difficult to initiate long-term new home or study groups.
Welcome strengthened, but limited success in instilling a culture of welcome in the congregation as a whole.
Considerable energy has been spent on seeking to develop a joint-venture structure to develop the disused URC church and hall in the village, about which views among the congregation were divided. Proposals to develop St Helen’s have been largely on ice to conserve resources in case the URC project went ahead. The PCC decided in 2019 not to pursue the URC project.
