Progress
Regular prayer groups during the week and before services are now well established, and weekly prayer emails now linked to those on the weekly sheet. Evening services were trialled, although at review it was felt that it wasn’t the right path forward. Good Alpha course run and well attended, and some new faces attending services. Continued good progress on accessibility of the church.
The group appointed to look at the different physical aspects of the church has not yet managed to meet.
We haven’t made progress on signposting the youth/teens to other Christian opportunities in Hemel.
Vision
St Barnabas is a place where everyone is truly welcome. We are a community growing and learning together in faith, love and worship. Those who come will hear the Good News of Jesus and all may know his transformation in their lives.
1st Priority
Developing our church and individual teaching and prayer lives.
Increase circulation of prayer emails and newsletter.
Establish a regular study group to provide ongoing support to those who wish to continue beyond Alpha.
Formalise the division of JAM club into two age brackets and how they will better focus on helping our children to know Jesus.
2nd Priority
Seeing more people coming into God’s Kingdom.
Run a formal outreach event.
Develop ministry of lay visitors to christening families.
Work on signposting youth to other groups and events (Youth Across Hemel, ROSE group [Reflecting Our Saviour’s Example], Hard CoR (youth group at Church of the Resurrection). Also, commit to identifying 3 speakers to address the Friday night youth group over a year.
3rd Priority
Continuing to improve accessibility of the building, and improving the spiritual environment.
In collaboration with Hightown Praetorian, to provide a safe pedestrian access path to the front door and hall door without walking across their carpark.
Working group to review the spaces throughout the church for welcome, practicality, spiritual and general feel and to make recommendations to the PCC.
