Progress

What progress are you celebrating since your previous MAP?

1. The Lent lunches and other special events continue to be well received
2. Our connections with Westbrook Hay School are continuing to strengthen
3. We have a new website
4. Relations with BEVA are much improved and there is a sense of co-operation between church and village association
5. We have done the necessary work on the graveyard
6. We have produced a Welcome Card to deliver to the new housing when occupied

How far did you meet your previous priorities?

Where has there been less progress than hoped for?

1. We have not yet introduced new orders of service for different types of service
2. Although well received, SS@6 is not well attended
3. We have yet to explore opportunities for prayer
4. Improving our communication with one another and the village

What is the vision for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

Our vision is to grow in spirit and in number so that St John’s might be a beacon for Christ in Bourne End. We would like people to find a welcoming, caring, praying community that can be more central to the needs and activities of the village and parish both as people and as a building.

Establish a prayer chain by Easter 2020.

SMART Goal 2 to achieve your 1st Priority

Undertake prayer walks which could be combined with delivering the newsletter. Begin in May 2020 and roll out programme through the year; then on-going. To be reviewed at each PCC meeting starting July 2020.

Establish an Advent and Lent bookgroup (ensuring there are opportunities for this to meet that are possible for those in work). This is to start with Advent 2020.

Reinstate Q&A sessions after the 5th Sunday Wednesday service. Begin January 2020.

1. Improve publicity for our special events by:
• Ensuring they are included in the Bourne Ender
• Explore how to reach the people in the new houses
• Highlight special events in our newsletter
• Flag particular events on our website
• Put events on facebook
