Progress

What progress are you celebrating since your previous MAP?

Last MAP adopted by PCC October 2016.
+completion of Toilet and kitchenette facilities.
+introduction of monthly events/services some of which have been focussed on appealing to young people and villagers ie; Easter 2018 when hedgehog rescue, God’s acre and craft day was on offer and well supported.

Where has there been less progress than hoped for?

+Very little progress from 2018-9 due to incumbent’s sick leave and subsequent vacancy in parish.
+Involving new people has been hard during vacancy when focus has been on maintaining service pattern.
+Finances are swallowed by building maintenance costs.

Vision

What is the vision for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

Serving God and the Community as Festival Church

Values

What are the core values for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

+Inclusivity- the building is valued as one of only 2 community buildings in the village (the other is the pub) so all are welcome wherever they are with God.
+Collaborative working-is a strength as in working with the pub, Shaws Corner, village forum.
+hosting & hospitality-putting on events to dovetail with village cultural events and Christian festivals through the year and to attract a wider audience.
+Value of the 18th Century Greek revival church as a visitor attraction for walkers, local history, wedding venue, God’s acre churchyard.

What is your 1st Priority to make your vision a reality?

Becoming Festival Church in order to re-connecting with Ayot St Lawrence village and visitors.
+ connects to growing in confidence in how we grow and express our Christian faith to others-and how we share that faith with others.

Which of the 3 strands of Living God’s Love does your 1st Priority most focus on?
Making New Disciples

SMART Goal to achieve your 1st Priority

Compile database to connect with attendees/visitors. Invite more people to events.
Use existing social media to communicate and publicize more. Revisit a history publication.

SMART Goal 2 to achieve your 1st Priority

Develop 6 varied festivals per annum-church services with events attached.

SMART Goal 3 to achieve your 1st Priority

Apply to Diocesan Bishop for formal permission to become a Festival Church.

2nd Priority

What 2nd Priority are you working on to make your vision a reality?

Finance

Which of the 3 strands of Living God’s Love does your 2nd Priority most focus on?
Making New Disciples

SMART Goal to achieve your 2nd Priority

Maximise Summer months’ fund raising events. (impossible in 2020) These fund the whole upkeep and repair of the building.

SMART Goal 2 to achieve your 2nd Priority

Parish share cannot be funded. Strategy for visiting all villagers twice a year with a Christmas & Easter card to raise profile of church, encourage attendance, occasional services and promote popular festivals especially at culturally important times of the year.

SMART Goal 3 to achieve your 2nd Priority

Increase parish share payments by 10% in 2020 (achieved). Promote regular giving with a personalised stewardship scheme focussed on the historic community village building-which is valued by the village.
