Vision
Making God and Kimpton Church more visible in our village community.
strapline= ‘Making Christ known in Kimpton’
We formulated an entirely new MAP in October 2019.
Values
+strength of the church fellowship in faith and action.
+membership who are active in the church and across the community; and who model their Christian faith in community life (Going deeper into God).
+inclusivity
+welcoming
+generosity/hosptiality (these 3/4 values relate to our working towards making new disciples)
+huge amounts of goodwill in the village toward the church and is valued for the central position it holds (physically and metaphysically) as the place we go to pray and seek God. The church recognizes this as both a value and a responsibility (and it relates to transforming communities)
1st Priority
Community Relationships==reorienting the central role the church should hold in the village, but which has been lost somewhat over the last few years. Achieving wider appeal and responding well and timely to village needs.
Being overt about what church offers.
+new Website achieved and hosting weekly recorded services, sermons, hymns.
+use social media to good advantage.
Review and simplify some services/liturgy to make more accessible, prioritizing those which intersect with village culture (ie; May Festival, Remembrance, occasional service, special events, school). Increase use of AVA resources in the church.
Church member/priest-in-charge to be a presence at all village events. Village seeks a ‘communty vicar’. Offer ‘open door’ and ‘listening ear’ to all
2nd Priority
Children and young people (& their parents/carers).
As extant BLAST(Bible Learning and Study Together ) group grow older, evolve them into a group for older young people (Key Stage 3+). Canvas group about what they want to be and take part in.
+Dream of hosting a Deanery Confirmation at Kimpton Church
Create a new ‘Early years/KS1/2 Group
Respond to the growing possibility of a fresh expression of Sunday afternoon ‘family/Sunday Club for this parish.
3rd Priority
Finance
Introduce PGS in Autumn 2020
Demystify and clarify how Church of England parishes are funded.
