What progress are you celebrating since your previous MAP?

The past year has been dominated by the need to respond to the circumstances of Covid-19. We are extremely grateful for all the work done that has allowed us to maintain contact with our church family-not least through the medium of on-line communications. We have learnt that, in the post Covid era, digital communication will continue to provide great opportunities for maintaining previous contacts and for making new ones.
Other reasons for celebration include:
-development of Healing ministry through sermons and lay training
-re-emphasis of our message of welcome to all and the formation of a “Welcome Team” at all main services
-success of a residential weekend on the theme of “Amazing Grace”
-establishment of a Reaching New People Group to explore ways for engaging newcomers to the church and to the town
-full participation in a local initiative to support Rough Sleepers during winter 2019/20

How far did you meet your previous priorities?
(1 star = Not at all → 10 stars = Done)

8 stars

Where has there been less progress than hoped for?

While much was achieved, the embedding of positive outcomes has been limited by the restrictions imposed by Coronavirus. However, the work of recent years has enabled the church family to remain strong during these difficult months.

What is the vision for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

Our strapline for our spiritual growth is ‘Know the Story, Share the Story, Live the Story’. A prayerful and Biblically literate community which through the arts, social action and pilgrimage, seek to share and live the story of Jesus.

What are the core values for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

We state the following on our website:
“No one belongs here more than you…..following the example of Jesus, and seeking to model the inclusive love of God, we welcome all people whatever your status, wealth, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, age, health or mobility”.

1st Priority

What is your 1st Priority to make your vision a reality?

Restoring and maintaining contact with all who are part of our church family (remaining together while apart during the pandemic) and developing ways to “reach new people”.

Which of the 3 strands of Living God’s Love does your 1st Priority most focus on?
Making New Disciples

SMART Goal to achieve your 1st Priority

Develop the use of on-line technology to maintain and extend contacts and, when circumstances permit, explore fresh activities that will engage newcomers to our church.
