Progress

What progress are you celebrating since your previous MAP?

Our Messy Church has become a regular feature of church and village life, and we have about 20 families that come along. It has been on hold during the pandemic, but we have been in touch with the families, and we know that they are looking forward to its return.

As we were unable to hold our usual Christmas services in 2020 due to Covid, we erected a Community Christmas Tree outside the church. Many individuals and local businesses contributed time, money, or resources to enable this to come together, and others made or contributed decorations. It was a wonderful focal point for the community, bringing light and hope to many. It led to many conversations like this one: “I’ve lived here for 50 years, and we’ve never had anything like this in the village – thank you”. Unwittingly we stumbled upon a brilliant point of outreach and connection, and we will be repeating this, and hopefully building on it.

How far did you meet your previous priorities?
(1 star = Not at all → 10 stars = Done)

5 stars

Where has there been less progress than hoped for?

The Pandemic has completely changed church life for us, as for us all, and so there is much from our previous MAP that we have made little progress on. We’re aware that this is the case for all churches, and so we are not unduly anxious.

Vision

What is the vision for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

Our Vision:
Because God so loves us, we want to share his love by serving and caring for others so that we may extend God’s Kingdom in Bricket Wood and beyond.
(John 3:16)

Our goals for where we would be in 2024:
Praying: Our congregation is equipped and enabled to enjoy and share personal and collective prayer as a natural expression of our relationship with God and in expectation of hearing God’s voice
Caring: As an expression of God’s love for us, we love and care for each other and for those in our wider community.
Learning and Growing: As a congregation, we are constantly seeking ways in which we can learn and grow as Christian disciples, drawing on the expertise and resources within our Church, the Diocese and beyond.
Reaching out: Enabling people to encounter God and explore their relationship with Him; meeting people where they are and recognising their many and varied circumstances.

Values

What are the core values for your Church, Parish, Team Ministry or Benefice?

Our core values are taken from the model of the early church in Acts, and are reflected in our Vision:
A people of prayer
A people who seek to be growing in discipleship
A people who build community
A people who reach out to make new disciples
