Church of Cheshunt, St Mary the Virgin
« Mission Action Plan »
St Mary’s Church is well known in Cheshunt as being a welcoming place which has good social events.
We continue to seek God’s will for the congregation and the parish.
New families have joined us and play an increasing role in the life of the Church.
The Cheshunt Team Ministry has forged closer bonds between the four Team churches and regularly joins together for Advent and Lent courses, as well as Cheshunt Team services on the 5th Sunday of the month.
We continue to have difficulty encouraging a wider variety of people to volunteer in the Church.
We need to offer opportunities for people who are seeking and exploring faith, and for those within the Church to deepen their faith through discipleship courses, home groups, and prayer.
Our vision is for St Mary’s to be a welcoming Church, making God’s love known in Cheshunt and across the wider community.
Outreach – To make opportunities to engage with the wider community, following the example of Jesus.
Welcome – To provide a place where everyone belongs and where everyone is valued as God’s children.
Nurture – Going deeper into God by exploring the Bible and developing our prayer life both corporately and individually.
Worship – We gather to worship as a community to glorify God and to grow in faith.
Outreach. To make God’s love known to the wider community of Cheshunt.
To develop a scheme of parish youth work.
To hold an annual open air church service, picnic and community day.
To develop our Welcome Ministry so that all are valued as they become more involved in the life of the Church and as they grow in faith.
To develop home groups to study the Bible, pray together and to fellowship with one another.
To encourage people to attend Christian events and festivals such as Spring Harvest.
To encourage each other to explore new worship styles.
To encourage wider participation in leading parts of worship.
