Becoming more Confident in Work with Young People
There is anxiety around being with young people. Anxiety about young people in the Church or (more often than not – absence from our Church!)
This workshop will draw on nearly 50 years of work with young people in different settings enabling us to be confident in our journeys with young people. Our main outcome is for you to takeaway one thing and put it into practice!
You will be encouraged!
Speakers: Mike Palin and Dean Pusey
Mike has been Director of the267project since 2007 which was when God gave him a real sense of calling in the area of supporting local churches in their youth & children’s ministry. 12 years later Mike is now a team of 5 and has around 35 churches who access the church in some way. Mike has been involved in full time youthwork for over 25 years and is passionate for the work he carries out. His time is spent meeting leaders, imagining new ways for young people and kids to engage with faith, running events and doing all he can to encourage the local church. Mike has a wife and son, Kirstie and Zach, bring him a vast amount of joy and he loves his family, brunch, movies and the sea (all at the same time would be an ideal scenario)
Dean Pusey has been a Diocesan Youth Officer in the Church of England most recently in St Alban’s from 2011-2018 and Southwark Diocese 2003-2009 in the same role and worked across statutory and voluntary sectors prior. He is passionate about Jesus and Justice and has been involved in youth ministry for long time. Dean is married with two teenagers and he loves Soul Music and Soul Food, travelling and meeting new people.
