Local Ministry Development Teams (LMDTs)
Local Ministry Development Teams were formerly Local Ministry Teams. The development of Local Ministry Teams (LMTs) was a key aim of the Diocesan Local Ministry Scheme, started in 2000 and revised in 2005. The Scheme has evolved and local ministry has become part of most churches’ life. It offers a variety of opportunities for parishes, Team and Group Ministries, ‘clusters’ of parishes, deaneries and ecumenical ‘groups’ to explore ways of working together within their local communities and churches. At the same time it provides resources, support and oversight of training.
The Scheme has provided a framework for establishing a mandated Local Ministry Team (LMT). This is a more formal Team which from the experience of the past few years has proved to be thoroughly beneficial in some parishes and multi-parish benefices. In December 2012 the Council for Discipleship and Ministry agreed some revisions affecting Local Ministry Teams, which will in future be called Local Ministry Development Teams (LMDTs).
Currently we have 9 teams across the Diocese:
- Great Amwell with St Margarets and Stanstead Abbots
- Hartford Hundred Group (Little Berkhamsted and Bayford, Essendon and Ponsbourne
- Kings Langley
- Luton: St Anne’s with St. Christopher’s, Luton
- Potton with Sutton and Cockayne Hatley
- Waltham Cross, Christchurch
- All Saints Harpenden
- St Mary Magdalene, Dunton
