Caterpillar’s Easter Journey
2nd March 2018
The Cross and death of Jesus is not easy to explore with young children, but what is Easter without it?
From personal experience as a children’s worker, Priest at St Albans Cathedral, and now team vicar in Hemel Hempstead, Revd Austin Janes has written and illustrated an Easter poem from the point of view of a caterpillar – travelling with Jesus through Holy week, to the Cross and all the way through to the Ascension. The style of writing is accessible to young children and the use of symbolism and metaphor makes the poem a useful tool for exploring poetry with older children, and the journey from egg to butterfly is a useful springboard into lifecycles.
A full Power Point presentation is available for assemblies, accompanied by as many books as needed.
