St Augustine’s Community Spirit During Lock-Down
10th September 2020
St Augustine’s school community really pulled together to support and encourage each other during lockdown.
Children enjoyed taking part in weekly challenges, set by the school, which saw windows decorated with pictures and brought smiles to the faces of everyone who saw them.
Many of the families in the school’s community struggled with food during lockdown and staff and parent volunteers could be seen each week pulling along a trolley full of bagels and cereal to deliver to families in need. In addition, the school provided workbooks and colouring pencils for every child, as many of them do not have computers at home. The children also received letters from their teachers and scripture colouring pages.
Their weekly newsletters were a highlight for many of their families. They provided advice and support for mental health and well-being, and links to home learning activities. They also contained a wealth of prayers and Bible verses to help find peace and hope during a very challenging time.
