Simon Baynes RIP
11th December 2020
The Diocese of St Albans has learnt with deep sadness of the death of Simon Baynes.
Bishop Alan says: “I am sad to tell you that Simon Baynes died on 23rd November after a long illness. Over many years Simon made a huge contribution to the Diocese of St Albans. Drawing on his extensive financial expertise, he was a valued member of the Diocesan Board of Finance. A member of Diocesan Synod, Bishop’s Council as well as General Synod, Simon was a frequent and eloquent contributor. His interest in the criminal justice system led him to found the Diocesan Penal Affairs Group whose high point was arranging a national conference which was lauded by many who attended. He will be greatly missed. Please join me in giving thanks for Simon’s life and praying for Clare, his wife who is a priest in the diocese, and their two sons.”
