St James, New Barnet has been awarded a grant of £250 towards its ‘Warm Place’ initiative.  They are providing a place for the community to come to work, or chat for free to save on their energy bills.

The grant is going towards refreshments, which are offered for free, and also to their hardship fund, which supports clients by giving them hot water bottles and fleece blankets to use at home. One of those involved in the initiative said:

‘We are grateful to receive a warm places grant to help us continue our work within the New Barnet community. We have been serving soup and a roll to clients who come to St James Church to keep warm and enjoy friendship. We have a small reflection service for people to enjoy a weekday message from God and we also offer help with form filling and online access for those who need extra help with the cost of living crisis.’
