Welcome to Youth & Children’s Work

The Children and Youth departments offer various support to parishes:

Children’s Work

The Children’s Work Department forms part of the Diocesan Parish Development Team, offering support and advice to parishes working with children.

Children are welcome as significant members of every church family and every parish. They are our God given heritage, children were blessed and called by Jesus and they with all generations are promised the gifts of the Spirit. How can we help each parish to enable the children in their communities and churches to grow in faith, to encounter Christ and to transform their world? The Diocesan Children’s Mission Enabler is here to offer support and to resource all those working with children aged 0 – 12 years in churches and their communities.

Youth Work

The Diocesan Youth Office is also part of the Diocesan Parish Development Team, helping parishes facilitate young people coming to, and developing, an active faith.

Our primary focus is supporting parishes who work with young people aged 11 to 19 years, or up to 25 if they have a disability or special need. We look to network and develop various partnerships in the voluntary and community sector and also be an advocate for young people and the organisations who support them.

Youth Strategy

Our 2012-15 strategy outlines our key priorities and goals over the next few years – click here to download a copy of our strategy document.

We are currently consulting regarding our next DYS strategy, and have two questionnaires we’re asking youth groups to complete – one for youth leaders, and one for young people. Click here to download. If you would like printed copies contact Julie in the office.
