Information for PCCs and Incumbents
We recognise PCCs role as the legal entity for the parish and therefore liaising on issues of recruitment, selection, retention and development are a key part of employing workers. The Diocese wishes to offer its expertise and experience accompanying parishes in this vital area, and hope that we can be used appropriately, particularly at the beginning of these processes.
Employing a Youth, Children’s or Families Worker/Minister

If any of the above buzz words are part of your thinking we’d advise you to get in touch with us.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has published some very helpful guidelines on Volunteer Internships – click here to download. The guide reviews some of the legal and ethical issues for charities and voluntary organisations in involving volunteers, and we recommend you read this if you are considering offering an Internship in your parish.
This initiative ran for over six years, up until 2015. It highlighted best practice in relation to practices and principles parishes use in employing a youth worker, helping the church articulate its desire to value and develop youth workers. You can still view their charter and guidance – download a copy here.
